Legend tells of a cabin boy named Baret who embarked on a French king's ship bound overseas to find new species of flowers. Baret, who was considered fragile by everyone, was captured by natives. After being freed, the crew discovered that Baret was not a weak young man at all, but actually a courageous woman who had disguised herself as a sailor to explore the world. Touched by her story, the king decided to name one of the flowers brought from these distant lands in her honor, using her real name: Hortense (Hydrangea).
This flower represents the courage of a woman who dared to challenge the conventions of her era to pursue her dreams, a true homage to the strength and determination of those who dare to be themselves to pursue their own happiness.
